ADAS Scans at Drop-Off, Before Repairs, and After Repairs
Advanced Safety Checks for Modern Vehicles
Today’s vehicles rely on cameras, sensors, and driver-assist systems. A collision can affect those systems even when damage looks minor. That’s why we scan your vehicle when you drop it off, again when repairs begin, and again when repairs are complete. We use those results to confirm system health and plan the right next steps.
This approach supports safer repairs and fewer surprises at delivery. It also helps verify that important safety features work the way they should. If calibration is required, we address it as part of the repair plan. You leave with a vehicle that looks right and functions right.
Local roots, solid repair standards, and a shop that treats people well.
Jim’s Auto Body started with Jim Maltbie, inspired by his father Raymond, who managed an auto body shop. Jim began working on cars at 12 and opened his first shop in 1962, at only 19 years old. He started in Port Chicago and moved to Concord within six months. The shop grew into one of the Bay Area’s most respected collision repair businesses, and Jim mentored other shops along the way.
As demand grew in Contra Costa County, Jim opened the Antioch location in 1986. He then opened the Walnut Creek location in 1992 to serve more local drivers with the same repair standards and customer care. We still run the business with a family mindset. We take pride in a friendly, respectful atmosphere where people feel comfortable asking questions.

Our Repair Process
We use a consistent process because it helps us control quality and reduce delays. We also keep you in the loop so you never wonder what’s happening. From check-in to delivery, you’ll see clear steps and real progress. Our goal is to return your vehicle safely, not just quickly.
Modern vehicles require more than cosmetic fixes. Sensors, cameras, and structural materials all affect how a car protects you. That’s why we include scanning and calibration steps as part of our workflow. We build repairs around safety, accuracy, and manufacturer-aligned best practices. You get results you can trust.
Our I-CAR Gold Class status reflects ongoing training and a commitment to current repair standards.

Our I-CAR Platinum technicians stay sharp on changing vehicle technology. We invest in equipment and processes that support proper repairs. That’s how we protect our customers and our name.

Yes. We perform ADAS scanning when your vehicle is dropped off, again when repairs begin, and again when repairs are complete. This helps confirm that sensors and safety systems communicate correctly after repairs. If your vehicle needs calibration, we handle that as part of the repair plan and explain the process. It’s one more way we help restore safety—not just appearance—after a collision.

Repair timelines depend on the extent of damage, parts availability, and how quickly approvals come through (if insurance is involved). We’ll give you a realistic timeline once we confirm the repair plan, then we’ll keep you updated. If something changes, you’ll hear it from us right away.

We want your first visit to our collision center in Walnut Creek to feel smooth.
